See your bookmarks your way

Every Hive group and link can carry a description. You can view a group's links as a compact list, as a gallery of icons, or in Hive Mind, an interactive graph of how your links and tags connect, with views for popular, shared and fresh links.

Every link explains itself.

Give any group or link a description so nobody wonders what it's for. Then look at your links the way you think: a tight list, a gallery of icons, or Hive Mind, a live map of how everything connects.

How it works

  1. Add a description to a group or a link in its settings.
  2. Switch the links pane between List and Gallery with the view switch.
  3. Open the Hive Console and choose Hive Mind to see the graph.
  4. Pick a view such as Popular or Shared to see the map another way.

Bookmarks that explain themselves

A bookmark is usually just a title and a URL, often a title someone else’s website chose. Months later, “Dashboard” or “Untitled document” tells you nothing. In a shared group it’s worse: why is this link here, and is it still the right one?

Hive lets every group and every link carry a description. A group can say what it’s for and who keeps it up to date. A link can say “The 9:30 call, camera optional” or “Update this on the first of the month.” Descriptions appear when you hover a link’s info icon in the popup, next to who added it, how often it’s been opened and when it was last used.

Some people scan words, others recognize icons. Hive’s links pane offers both, and you can switch at any time:

  • List is compact and text first: favicon, name and alias in one tidy row, perfect for long groups.
  • Gallery puts the favicon first, in a grid of tiles with the name underneath and the alias in the corner. It turns a group into something closer to an app launcher.

Your choice is saved with your settings, so it follows you to every computer.

Hive Mind: your bookmarks as a graph

Hive Mind, in the Hive Console, draws every link you can see as a node on a map. Each link sits in its group’s color, connected by lines to its tags, so links that share ideas cluster together. It’s the clearest way to see that your bookmarks were never a tree.

Hive Mind has views that answer different questions:

  • Structure shows how links, tags and groups connect.
  • Popular grows the links people open most and fades the ones nobody uses.
  • Shared separates what everyone in a group sees from what’s only yours.
  • Fresh highlights what was added recently and what has gone stale.
  • People shows who added what.
  • Untagged points out links that still need a tag.

Seeing is managing

These views aren’t just pretty. Popular and Fresh show which shared links can be retired. Untagged shows where a group needs tidying. People shows who knows about what. Descriptions make sure the next person understands why a link exists. Together they turn a pile of bookmarks into a collection you can actually look after.

Questions about visual bookmarks

Who can see descriptions?

Does my view choice sync?

Yes. List or Gallery is a preference saved with your settings, so it follows you to your other computers.

What does Hive Mind show?

Hive Mind draws the links you can access as nodes, connected to their tags and groups. Views highlight different things, such as the most opened links, what's shared, or what's new.

Is Hive Mind a paid feature?

No. Hive Mind is available to every signed-in user on every plan.
