One search for every link
Hive's search matches link names, URLs, aliases and tag names across every group you can see, and can include your regular Chrome bookmarks. Results are grouped into tag sections, then one section per group, then Chrome bookmarks, so the right link is easy to spot.
Add to Chrome, it's freeFind it with half a memory.
Forgot the alias? Type anything you remember. One search covers names, URLs, aliases and tags, plus your regular Chrome bookmarks, with results sorted by tag and by group.

How it works
- Open the Hive popup and start typing in the search box.
- Results appear as you type, matched on name, URL, alias and tags.
- Matching tags come first, then each group's matches, then Chrome bookmarks.
- Click a result to open it, or a group name to jump to that group.
Half a memory is enough
You rarely remember a bookmark exactly. You remember it was a spreadsheet, or that it had “budget” in the name, or that it was on the finance site, or that you tagged it for the family. Hive’s search is built for that kind of memory. Type any part of what you recall and Hive looks everywhere it could be.
What search looks at
Every keystroke searches across all your groups at once, personal and shared:
- Names, the link’s title in Hive.
- URLs, so you can type part of the address, like the site’s name.
- Aliases, so a half-remembered alias still turns up.
- Tag names, so typing fin brings up everything tagged finance.
And when you turn on Chrome bookmarks in Hive, your regular browser bookmarks are searched too. You don’t have to move everything into Hive on day one to find it from one place.
Results you can read at a glance
A flat list of matches is hard to scan when you have hundreds of links. Hive sorts results into sections:
- Tag sections first. If what you typed matches a tag, every link with that tag is shown under it.
- One section per group, each headed by the group’s name in its color, in the same order as your groups.
- Chrome bookmarks last, under their own heading.
The colored group headings tell you at a glance whether a result is your team’s link or your own. Click a group’s heading to jump straight to that group.
Search and aliases
Search and aliases answer two different moments. When you know exactly where you’re going, go and an alias in the address bar is the fastest path there is. When you don’t, search finds it from whatever you remember. Most people end up with aliases for the links they use every day and search for everything else.
Better results over time
Search gets better as your links get better. Clear names, a few tags and an alias on the links you use often make every search shorter. Hive helps with that too: descriptions explain what a link is, tag sections show what’s still untagged, and Hive Mind shows how everything connects.

Questions about bookmark search
What does Hive search match?
Link names, URLs and aliases, plus tag names. A tag match brings up every link with that tag.
Does it search my Chrome bookmarks too?
Yes, when you turn on Chrome bookmarks in Hive. They appear as the last section of the results, after your Hive groups.
When should I use search instead of an alias?
Use the alias when you know it. Use search when you only remember part of the name, the website, or what the link is about.
Does search cover shared groups?
Yes. Search covers every group you're a member of, personal and shared.
